Technical Writer

 

Note: submit a cover letter along with resume. Writing/editing samples are encouraged. 

The main responsibility of the Technical Writer is generating technical reports for pre-clinical studies by compiling/tabulating study data and preparing comprehensive narrative under the supervision of the Study Director/Principal Investigator. Accurate and consistent reports must be produced within allotted timelines by working effectively with word processing and report compilation tools and the company’s data management system. Additional duties may include editing/proofreading standard operating procedures and manuscripts. The Technical Writer interacts frequently with peers, the senior writer, lead scientists, laboratory technicians and quality assurance auditors. Key abilities include exceptional attention to detail while working concurrently on numerous projects. A Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate discipline is required (scientific disciplines preferred), along with experience editing and preparing technical documents. Applicants must possess superior editorial and analytical skills and must be capable of using/learning various data processing and management tools, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat DC, and statistical analysis software.

Lab Biologist - Toxicology

Due to expansion, we are seeking Lab Biologists for our Toxicology Division. This position works under the supervision of a Study Director and Technical Supervisor to provide support with collection, analysis, interpretation, and evaluation of data from pre-clinical studies of biological activity of chemical and physical agents.

Methods and techniques used will include those from the disciplines of toxicology, zoology, anatomy, and related fields. These techniques include the routine handling of animals (in vivo studies) including non-human primates, dogs, rabbits, rats, mice, etc.; administration of test agents; collection and entry of observational data; and collection of biological samples for analysis. We require a bachelor’s degree in Biology or related field or equivalent experience. Experience handling laboratory animals or animals in a veterinary environment is a plus.

Lab Biologists must be open to some overtime and weekend work, on a rotational basis, depending on the study being conducted..

Local candidates strongly preferred; no relocation is available for these positions.

Associate Biologist - Virology

IIT Research Institute (IITRI) is a prominent Chicago-based research and development organization focused on the biomedical sciences. We provide safety assessment and efficacy testing and advisement to pharmaceutical, chemical, and biotechnology companies worldwide, as well as to the National Institutes of Health, Department of Defense, and other branches of the federal government.

To support the continued expansion of our research programs, IITRI is currently seeking an individual to join our Microbiology & Molecular Biology Division. This individual will serve as a Study Director and/or Contributing Scientist of GLP-compliant virological and other in vivo and in vitro experiments. Responsibilities include planning and performing experiments, supervising laboratory technicians, and preparing data reports. Will maintain current sponsor relationships, and work with our Business Development group to expand research programs.

The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in Virology, Immunology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology or other related area, and 0-5 years of experience after award of Ph.D. Experience with in vivo models of viral infections, and experience with planning and performing experiments with pathogenic organisms under bio-safety level 2 and 3 conditions is highly preferred.  Experience running GLP-compliant studies is also preferred.

Must have excellent writing and presentation skills. Security clearance may be required. Background check will require submission of fingerprints and personal information to the U.S. Department of Justice, pre-employment and random drug screening, and vaccinations.

Laboratory Biologist III - IV

IIT Research Institute (IITRI) is a prominent Chicago-based research and development organization focused on the biomedical sciences. This individual will serve as a study coordinator and project manager for a program testing the efficacy of COVID vaccines in clinical trials. Responsibilities include organizing sample testing schedules, assigning technical personnel to tasks, coordinating sample receipt, and providing real-time data to the Study Director and/or the sponsor.

The successful candidate will have a M.S. in Virology, Immunology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology or other related area, and 5+ years of experience. Experience with the coordination of sample receipt in a laboratory or biotechnology setting is required.  Experience working on large, government contracts is highly preferred.  Experience working under GLP, GCLP, cGMP or ISO quality regulations is highly preferred.

Assistant Chemist

We are looking to add a Chemist to our IITRI team. This position will work in IITRI’s compounded pharmacy and will be preparing formulation medication. A typical formulation involves mixing a dry material with a wet material. The test article lab is wet chemistry work. The work done in the test article lab is responsible for receiving and logging in test and control article. The main purpose of the test article lab is in preparing dose formulations that will be administered as required. Equipment used is hot plates, stir plates, balances, sonicators, pH meters and occasionally a homogenizer. This position requires impeccable attention to detail and experience with all routes of administration of medication: capsule, tablets, liquids, injectables.

Must have a Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or biology with at least 1 year of experience in medication formulation (capsules, tablets, liquids) and experience in a laboratory environment (weighing and measuring). Prior experience in preparing pharmaceuticals or personal care products would be most beneficial. A GLP background is preferred, but a GMP background could be helpful.

Senior Chemist

IIT Research Institute (IITRI), a Chicago-based research and development organization, is looking for two experienced chemists to work in our expanding Analytical Chemistry Division.  Successful candidates will join a team supporting preclinical and clinical drug discovery and development programs.

This position requires a Ph.D. (preferred) or M.S. in chemistry with 10+ years of experience in the development, validation, and application of LC-MS/MS and other methods to quantitate drugs and other xenobiotics in biological matrices.  Position will also involve supervision of laboratory chemists and other staff.  Extensive experience in analytical method development is essential; experience in a Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) compliant research environment is desirable.

QUALIFICATIONS
Quality Control Data Reviewer
We are currently seeking an individual who can work independently in a detailed fashion to join
our Quality Assurance team. This position is responsible for ensuring integrity of data collected
during laboratory studies and that good documentation practices are followed throughout the
study process. Candidates must understand basic laboratory techniques and data recorded
both electronically and on paper records, and have experience in a lab or QA/QC group. The
incumbent will interact with study scientists, technical staff, study sponsors and other auditors
in a professional manner.
We require a bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline with a minimum of 1 year of relevant
experience in a laboratory environment. The candidate should have exceptional interpersonal
skills along with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Appropriate quality
certification(s) (SQA RQAP-GLP or ASQ CQA) is a plus.

  • Effective attention to detail in the review of data recorded by study personnel.
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to relate review findings to appropriate staff.
  • Knowledge and understanding of laboratory good documentation practices.
  • In rare circumstances, education and/or experience requirements may be decreased or waived if the individual has an extraordinary educational background or uniquely applicable experience or highly specialized knowledge.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Executive Assistant

We are currently seeking an individual to provide professional complex administrative and advanced support services for the President of IIT Research Institute (IITRI). This person will act as a liaison between the executive management office and executive peers, outside organizations, vendors, consultants and other internal and external contacts.

This individual will utilize knowledge of IITRI operations, company policy, the organization and services, to assist executive while navigating a complex environment. Will prepare detailed scientific proposals and reports. This position has access to and regularly works with information of the most sensitive, highly confidential, strategic and critical nature.

A bachelor’s degree is preferred along with a minimum of 6 years of experience in executive administrative support. Must have advanced MS Word skills, along with proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint and database management software. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail required.

Animal Caretaker

IIT Research Institute (IITRI) is a prominent Chicago-based research and development organization focused on the biomedical sciences. IITRI performs basic and applied research and testing for a wide range of sponsors.

Animal Caretakers will be responsible for the daily cleaning, feeding, and care of assigned research animals and perform routine and simple laboratory activities. Caretakers handle periodic rotation of animals to clean cages, clean and sanitize animal housing rooms, and operate/maintain cage washing equipment. Caretakers assist the technical and professional staff as needed with physical examinations, obtaining body weights, or other testing procedures of laboratory animals and maintain food and bedding inventories and supplies. In this research environment caretakers learn and apply correct laboratory procedures and develop an understanding and knowledge of both experimental procedures and research project activities.

Caretakers comply with security procedures in the performance of duties.

 Candidates must have up to 1 year of animal handling, feeding, and general animal husbandry experience.

 A High school diploma is required.
