Assistant Chemist

IITRI is an independent preclinical contract research organization (CRO) located in Chicago with an exciting history in the discovery and development of new medicines.

We currently have an opening for an Assistant Chemist to work in our Bioanalytical Laboratory. This role will be responsible for the management of lab supplies and biological samples (receiving, logging and storage) and sample preparation and extraction for LCMS analysis using pipettes, centrifuge equipment, vortex mixers and other common laboratory equipment.

  • A bachelor’s degree in chemistry is required with special emphasis on analytical chemistry.
  • At least 2 years of experience working in a lab; regulated lab preferred.
  • Instrument experience with HPLC/UPLC and/or LC-MS is desirable.

This individual is responsible for extracting and analyzing plasma and other samples of biological origin for both preclinical and clinical studies. Most of the lab work will include weighing, and dissolving reference materials to obtain solutions of desired concentrations, processing plasma and other biological samples using different sample extraction methods and analyzing the processed samples using LCMS instrumentation. The position would also require validation of LCMS methods by following FDA/ICH and company’s guidelines.

Excellent attention to detail and documentation skills are required for this position.

The candidate will assist in preparing and reviewing technical documents/reports test procedures, including validation and study sample reports. With guidance from other colleagues perform all chemistry technique assignments including chromatography and mass spectrometry. Ability to troubleshoot analytical instrumentation is a plus.

Laboratory Biologist - Toxicology

IIT Research Institute (IITRI) is hiring a Lab Biologist who is passionate about science and research to join the Toxicology Division.

This position works under the supervision of a Study Director and Technical Supervisor to provide support with collection, analysis, interpretation, and evaluation of data from pre-clinical studies of biological activity of chemical and physical agents.

Methods and techniques used will include those from the disciplines of toxicology, zoology, anatomy, and related fields. These techniques include the routine handling of animals (in vivo studies) including non-human primates, dogs, rabbits, rats, mice, etc.; administration of test agents; collection and entry of observational data; and collection of biological samples for analysis. We require a bachelor’s degree in Biology or related field or equivalent experience. Experience handling laboratory animals or animals in a veterinary environment is a plus.

Lab Biologists must be open to some overtime and weekend work, on a rotational basis, depending on the study being conducted.

Vice President & Deputy Director

IITRI is soliciting applications from accomplished senior scientists for a position as VP & Deputy Director.

IITRI is a Chicago-based research and development organization focused on the biomedical sciences.  We perform preclinical drug efficacy evaluations and safety assessments for sponsors in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and chemical industries, as well as for the National Institute of Health (NIH), Department of Defense, and other branches of the federal government.

The successful candidate will provide scientific and administrative leadership to a growing organization with particular strength in preclinical toxicology, cancer prevention and therapy, and infectious disease.  In addition, the incumbent will serve as Principal Investigator/Study Director for programs conducted for commercial and government sponsors.

We require a Ph.D. with 15+ years of post-doctoral experience in toxicology, cancer biology, or infectious disease.  Board certification in toxicology (D.A.B.T.) preferred.  Academic scientists with a history of continuous NIH funding and CRO or industrial scientists with a demonstrated record of productivity are especially encouraged to apply.

Associate Research Biologist (post-doc) Toxicology

Associate Research Biologist (post-doc) in Virology and Immunology

IIT Research Institute (IITRI) is a prominent Chicago-based research and development organization focused on the biomedical sciences. We provide safety assessment and efficacy testing and advisement to pharmaceutical, chemical, and biotechnology companies worldwide, as well as to the National Institutes of Health, Department of Defense, and other branches of the federal government.

To support the continued expansion of our research programs, IITRI is currently seeking an individual to join our Microbiology & Molecular Biology Division. This individual will serve as a Study Director and/or Contributing Scientist of GLP-compliant virological, immunological and/or other in vivo and in vitro experiments. Responsibilities include planning and performing experiments, supervising laboratory technicians, and preparing data reports. Will maintain current sponsor relationships, and work with our Business Development group to expand research programs.

The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in Virology, Immunology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology or other related area, and 0-2 years of post-doctoral experience.  Candidates with newly conferred doctorates, or those expecting to receive their degree in a reasonable period of time are also encouraged to apply.  Experience with in vivo models of viral infections and/or subsequent immunological assessment preferred.  Experience with planning and performing experiments with pathogenic organisms under bio-safety level 2 and 3 containment is highly preferred.  Experience running GLP-compliant studies is also preferred.

Must have excellent writing and presentation skills. Security clearance may be required. Background check will require submission of fingerprints and personal information to the U.S. Department of Justice, pre-employment and random drug screening, and vaccinations.
