Toxicologists (Senior)

SENIOR TOXICOLOGIST

IIT Research Institute (IITRI), a Chicago-based research and development organization, is looking for candidates with experience in non-clinical toxicology. Although we are recruiting candidates with experience in all areas of toxicology, those with experience in developmental and reproductive toxicology (DART), immunotoxicology, or cancer drug development are of particular interest.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
This person will serve as a Study Director for GLP-compliant non-clinical toxicology studies, and will have the opportunity to develop an independent research program in their area of interest.
IITRI Study Directors are responsible for study design and execution; supervision of technical staff; data analysis and interpretation; preparation of study reports in compliance with regulatory requirements; preparation and presentation of abstracts reporting study data; and preparation of manuscripts for publication. Proposal preparation and extensive interactions with sponsor representatives are essential functions for IITRI Study Directors.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

This position requires a Ph.D. in toxicology (or related field) or a D.V.M. with research experience in toxicology. Experience as a Study Director for GLP-compliant studies is highly desirable.

Senior level candidates must be board-certified in toxicology (D.A.B.T.), and have 10+ years of experience as a Study Director for non-clinical toxicology studies and/or a record of extramural funding from the NIH or other sources.

Research level candidates should have 0-5 years of post-doctoral experience in non-clinical toxicology.

Inhalation Toxicology Division Manager

Inhalation Toxicology Division Manager

IIT Research Institute (IITRI), a Chicago-based biomedical research and development organization, is seeking an accomplished aerosol scientist or toxicologist to lead our Inhalation Toxicology Division.  Responsibilities include:

  • provide scientific and administrative leadership to inhalation toxicology programs and divisional operations
  • serve as Principal Investigator for government and industry programs in inhalation toxicology
  • collaborate with scientists within and outside of IITRI to perform interdisciplinary programs involving inhaled materials
  • mentor, develop, and motivate divisional staff to ensure effective project management and performance
  • develop and implement short-term and long-term plans for divisional growth and to meet budgetary goals
  • partner with the IITRI business development team to expand sponsorship of inhalation programs.

This position requires:

a Ph.D. with 10+ years of experience performing

  • a Ph.D. with 10+ years of experience performing in vivo safety and efficacy assessments of drugs, biotechnology products, and other materials in a GLP environment
  • board certification in toxicology (D.A.B.T.) strongly preferred.
  • a proven track record of extramural (government or commercial) research funding.

Academic scientists with a history of NIH funding, and CRO or industrial scientists with a demonstrated record of productivity are especially encouraged to apply.

Sr. Inhalation Toxicologist/Aerosol Scientist

Sr. Inhalation Toxicologist/Aerosol Scientist

IIT Research Institute (IITRI) is a prominent Chicago-based research and development organization focused on the biomedical sciences. IITRI performs basic and applied research and testing for a wide range of commercial and federal government sponsors.

We are currently seeking a Senior Inhalation Toxicologist or Aerosol Scientist with experience in inhalation aspects of aerosols to join our Inhalation Toxicology Division. This individual is responsible for the design, development, validation and documentation of all study-specific inhalation exposure systems for small and large animal GLP and non-GLP preclinical studies. Will develop automated control/data collection systems using software. Studies include aerosol generation and measurement, inhalation toxicology, respiratory dosimetry, and pulmonary physiology.

This individual will be responsible for developing new areas of research to enhance the capabilities within the Inhalation Toxicology division. Function as study director on inhalation toxicology studies, participates in sponsor meetings, presents study results, takes part in business development efforts, and prepares proposals. Will provide technical leadership and training to junior staff in various aspects of aerosol research.

We require a minimum of a MS degree with emphasis in toxicology with inhalation specialty or Aerosol Science and respiratory deposition with 7+ years applicable experience (or 5+ with PhD). Experience in project management is a plus. Candidates with 10+ years of applicable experience with strong leadership skills and a proven track record of funding will be considered for a Division Manager of Inhalation Toxicology position.

Quality Assurance Auditor

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Ensures good laboratory practices (GLP) in the conduct of non-clinical laboratory studies and work performed in support of such studies. Is fully aware of the GLP requirements of the Food and Drug Administration, the Environmental Protection Agency, and IITRI’s policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
 Reviews all study protocols and conducts inspections to ensure that work being performed adheres to GLP, the protocol, and standard operating procedures.
 Audits research reports for non-clinical laboratory studies and works in support of such studies.
 At the conclusion of any audit or inspection notifies research management and other appropriate staff of the findings. Works with staff to develop and implement any needed corrective action. Documents all findings.
 Follows up on all audits and inspections to insure that corrective actions have been implemented.
 Maintains Quality Assurance archives and filing system.
 Enters all studies into the master schedule to ensure accurate and up to date documentation.
 Complies with security procedures in the performance of duties.

QUALIFICATIONS
 Bachelor’s degree in related field and 1 years experience in a non-clinical laboratory, preferably with 1 year of QA/QC experience.
 Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
 In depth knowledge of GLP requirements of the FDA and EPA.
 In rare circumstances, education and/or experience requirements may be decreased or waived if the individual has an extraordinary educational background or uniquely applicable experience or highly specialized knowledge.  Appropriate quality certification(s) ( SQA RQAP-GLP or ASQ CQA) is a plus.
 A security clearance of an appropriate level may be required after employment.

Accounting Manager

Accounting Manager – QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or business degree with an accounting emphasis, CPA a plus.
  • A minimum of 7 years of applicable professional experience including supervision of various accounting functions.
  • Intermediate to advanced MS-Excel knowledge, including use of pivot tables.
  • Thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS).
  • Prior experience with cloud-based ERP system, Deltek CostPoint a plus.
  • Knowledge of relevant financial and accounting theory, principles, and practices.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with ability to communicate company practices internally to all levels of employees and leadership, and externally to vendors, auditors, etc.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with business operations team members and across all research related divisions.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Responsible for the management, direction, and operation of a combination of general accounting activities including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, payroll, subsidiary ledgers, and related functions. Provides for the preparation financial statements, reports in such areas as recording disbursements, expenses, and tax payments. Provides financial reports covering earnings, cash balances and other financial results. Plans and directs the development, implementation, operation and integrity of accounting systems and procedures.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

  • Manages and organizes general accounting operations.
  • Manages the performance and development of staff within various functions including accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Act as technical expert on GAAP & CAS issues, ERP training & troubleshooting, financial analysis, and special projects.
  • Assists with processing of bi-weekly payroll, related payroll taxes, file quarterly 941s.
  • Responsible for all aspects of month-end process.
  • Leads two annual audits and provides all data necessary to outside auditors.
  • Responsible for managing daily cash disbursements.
  • Maintain fixed assets and process monthly depreciation.
  • Maintain specific general ledger accounts ensuring that the data is accurate
  • Responsible for overall accuracy of both general ledger and sub-ledger accounts.
  • Responsible for payroll and non-payroll related account reconciliation processes.
  • Ensures affirmative action and EEO standards in recruiting and hiring staff.
  • Works with accounting staff to provide accurate reports from the general ledger system, assists with appropriate analysis and reconciliation.
  • Ensures compliance with standards set by law and regulation for books, records, and reports of the organization.
  • Provides back-up for absences in all accounting positions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
