Senior Contract Specialist

We are currently seeking a Senior Contract Specialist to join our Business Operations team. This person will be responsible for participating in the preparation of various contracts, subcontracts, and requests for proposals of high complexity. Will participate in proposal cost strategy, coordinate special rate calculations, review and negotiate terms and conditions of various federal government and commercial contracts. Assures compliance with government regulations and company policies and procedures, as well as compliance with applicable laws and the specific requirements of each contract. Acts as liaison between research department personnel and other IITRI departments, including financial operations, purchasing, security, and human resources on contract related matters.

Must have 5+ years of experience in commercial and federal government contract administration. Bachelor’s degree in applicable discipline preferred. Strong Excel skills needed. A security clearance of appropriate level may be required after employment.

Manager of Contracts

IIT Research Institute (IITRI) is a Chicago-based research and development organization focused on the biomedical sciences. We provide laboratory-based drug discovery and non-clinical development services to pharmaceutical, chemical, and biotechnology companies worldwide, as well as to the National Institutes of Health, Department of Defense, and other branches of the federal government.

We are currently seeking a Manager of Contracts to join our senior administrative team. The successful applicant will collaborate with scientific leadership to develop and implement programs to achieve budgetary goals and ensure compliance with sponsored research contracts. Responsibilities also include mentoring and motivating staff to ensure effective operational performance.

The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or related field; an advanced degree and/or professional certification is strongly preferred. Must have 10+ years of experience in proposal preparation and in the negotiation and management of contracts with the federal government and commercial entities. Extensive knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) required. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills are critical. A security clearance may be required after employment.

Research Biologist – Microbiology & Molecular Biology

To support the continued expansion of our research programs, IITRI is currently seeking an individual to join our Microbiology & Molecular Biology Division. Will serve as a Study Director of GLP-compliant in vivo virology experiments. Responsibilities include planning and performing experiments, supervising laboratory technicians, and preparing data reports. Will maintain current sponsor relationships, and work with our Business Development group to expand research programs.

The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in Microbiology, Virology or other related area with a minimum of 1 year of post-doctoral experience. Recent graduates or post-docs with appropriate technical experience will be considered. Must have experience with in vivo models of infectious viruses. Experience with planning and performing experiments with pathogenic organisms under bio-safety level 2 or 3 conditions also required. Experience working with respiratory viruses is preferred, but not necessarily required.

Must have excellent writing and presentation skills. US citizenship is required for this position. Security clearance may be required. The position requires submission of fingerprints and personal information to the U.S. Department of Justice, random drug screening, and vaccinations. LABORATORY BIOLOGISTS – TOXICOLOGY

Chicago, IL

Due to expansion, we are seeking multiple Lab Biologists for our Toxicology Division. This position works under the supervision of a Study Director and Technical Supervisor to provide support with collection, analysis, interpretation, and evaluation of data from pre-clinical studies of biological activity of chemical and physical agents.

Methods and techniques used will include those from the disciplines of toxicology, zoology, anatomy, and related fields. These techniques include the routine handling of animals (in vivo studies) including non-human primates, dogs, rabbits, rats, mice, etc.; administration of test agents; collection and entry of observational data; and collection of biological samples for analysis. We require a bachelor's degree in Biology or related field or equivalent experience. Experience handling laboratory animals or animals in a veterinary environment is a plus. Local candidates strongly preferred; no relocation is available for these positions.
